The Pernstyn Square
The Pernstyn Square is the centre of the urban conservation area declared in 1964. Today, the houses on the square demonstrate the three basic stages of the building development - Late Gothic, which features a stone lining of the windows, Renaissance with terracotta panelled windows, and Late Baroque and Classicist, which can be seen in the gables and stucco decoration. The biggest intervention in the appearance of the square was the construction of a new town hall in the late 19th century, which was built in the Neo-Renaissance style.
The Chateau
Pardubice Chateau is in many ways an exceptional historical monument. There, you can find the oldest nude in the history of the Czech fine arts Fortuna Volubilis - capricious fortune, Knights halls with the oldest Renaissance wall paintings in the Czech lands, a long-closed-to-the-public chapel of the Three Kings, or an emblazoned with tales secret civil defence shelter in northeast roundel of the chateau ramparts. Today, the chateau is the seat of the East Bohemian Museum and the headquarters of the East Bohemian Gallery.
